Programme Overview
Valterra Platinum is seeking a Trainer (Fixed Term) to deliver high-quality, engaging, and safety-focused training across mining operations.
The role focuses on developing employee skills through structured learning sessions, practical demonstrations, and competency-based assessments. The trainer will support operational excellence by ensuring employees are properly trained in safety procedures, equipment handling, and compliance standards.
The position is based in Mokopane and forms part of the company’s learning and development function within mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver interactive training sessions, workshops, and practical simulations
- Apply adult learning principles to enhance understanding and retention
- Adapt training content for different skill levels and job functions
- Act as a subject matter expert in safety, operations, or technical skills
- Conduct assessments, quizzes, and practical evaluations
- Provide coaching and constructive feedback to employees
- Maintain accurate training records and compliance documentation
- Collaborate with training teams and operational departments
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements
- Promote a strong safety culture and zero-harm environment
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- NQF Level 4 OD ETDP qualification
- Competency on at least 3 TMM/Open Pit mining machines
- Valid Code 08 (EB) driver’s licence
- 4 years’ experience as a Miner or Operator (advantageous)
- Computer literate
- Strong knowledge of training principles and safety procedures

- Blasting Certificate
- Competent A qualification
- Rope/Shovel/Excavator/Drill/Rock Breaker certifications
- ISO 9001:2015 knowledge
- Operational Risk Management training
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS/SIMS)
