Programme Overview
The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Fellowship Programme supports students with both funding and entrepreneurial development. It is designed for individuals who show strong entrepreneurial potential and want to make a meaningful impact in South Africa.

This bursary supports undergraduate studies in the following fields:

  • Commerce
  • Engineering
  • Humanities
  • Law
  • Science
  • Arts
  • Health Science (excluding Medicine, Dentistry, and Veterinary Science)

What the Bursary Covers
Funding depends on household income:

  • Household income below R1 million per year
    • Tuition fees
    • University accommodation and meals
    • Book allowance
    • Monthly allowance
    • Tutoring sessions
    • Counselling services (ICAS)
  • Household income between R1 million and R1.5 million per year
    • Tuition fees
    • University accommodation and meals
    • Tutoring sessions
    • Counselling services (ICAS)
  • Household income above R1.5 million per year
    • Tuition fees
    • Tutoring sessions
    • Counselling services (ICAS)

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be 21 years old or younger in 2026
  • Be currently in Matric (2026)
  • Achieve at least:
    • 60% in Mathematics OR 80% in Mathematical Literacy (Grade 11)
    • 70% average (excluding Life Orientation) in Grade 11
  • Intend to study towards a degree in one of the listed fields
  • Plan to study at one of the following institutions:
    • University of the Witwatersrand
    • University of Johannesburg
    • University of Cape Town
    • Nelson Mandela University
    • Rhodes University
    • University of the Western Cape
    • Stellenbosch University
    • University of Pretoria
    • University of the Free State
    • University of KwaZulu-Natal
    • TSIBA Business School
  • Demonstrate strong entrepreneurial potential and passion
  • Believe in the future of South Africa

Required Documents

  • Certified copy of ID document
  • Certified Grade 11 academic record (latest if Matric results unavailable)
