Programme Overview
Ampath Laboratories is offering a Phlebotomy Technician Learnership Programme designed to equip young individuals with practical and theoretical skills in pathology and patient care.
This HWSETA-funded programme combines classroom learning and real-world clinical exposure, preparing candidates for registration as a qualified Phlebotomy Technician.
Programme Details
- Start Date: Late January 2027
- Duration: 24 months full-time
- Format: Online classes + in-person training (Monday to Friday)
- Practical Training: Hands-on experience at Ampath Care Centres
- Training Locations:
- Centurion (Gauteng)
- Westridge (Durban, KZN)
- Funding: Fully funded by HWSETA and Ampath

Minimum Requirements
- Must be under 35 years old
- Matric with at least 60% in:
- Pure Mathematics
- Life Sciences / Biology
- English
- Must not have qualifications above NQF Level 4
- Access to a smartphone/device and stable internet
- Must be available full-time (no other employment allowed)
Selection Process
- Structured assessment process
- Panel interview
- Final acceptance dependent on HWSETA funding availability
