Programme Overview
Ampath Laboratories is offering a HWSETA-funded Phlebotomy Technician Learnership Programme aimed at developing skilled healthcare professionals in the field of pathology. The programme provides structured theoretical learning combined with practical clinical training in blood collection, laboratory procedures, and patient care. Successful completion leads to eligibility for HPCSA registration as a qualified Phlebotomy Technician.
Programme Details
- Duration: 24 months full-time training (starting January 2027)
- Format: Combination of online learning and in-person training (Monday to Friday)
- Practical Training: Workplace exposure at Ampath Care Centres
- Funding: Fully funded by HWSETA and Ampath Laboratories
- Assessment: Structured selection process including tests and panel interview
- Employment: No alternative employment allowed during the programme
Eligibility Requirements
- Age: Under 35 years (youth development initiative)
- Minimum qualification: Matric
- Minimum results: At least 60% in Pure Mathematics, Life Sciences/Biology, and English
- Qualification level: Must not hold qualifications above NQF Level 4 (for HWSETA funding eligibility)
- Must have a smartphone/device with stable internet access for online learning
