Job Overview
Absa is seeking a Software Developer to join its Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Technology team. The role focuses on designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable backend applications using .NET Core and C#, with strong cloud deployment experience.
You will work in agile teams to build enterprise-grade systems that support high-performance banking and financial services operations.
Key Responsibilities
Application Development
- Design, develop, test, and maintain backend systems using .NET Core and C#
- Build scalable RESTful APIs and business logic
- Follow clean architecture and coding best practices
- Write unit and integration tests to ensure reliability
Cloud & Deployment
- Deploy and manage applications in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
- Work with cloud services such as compute, storage, IAM, and databases
- Monitor application performance, reliability, and cost
DevOps & CI/CD
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Azure DevOps)
- Support automated build, testing, and deployment processes
- Work with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g. AWS CloudFormation or CDK)
Collaboration & Agile
- Work in Agile (Scrum or Kanban) teams
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions
- Collaborate with DevOps engineers, testers, and senior developers
- Communicate effectively within cross-functional teams
Minimum Requirements
Experience
- 3–5 years software development experience
- Strong hands-on experience with .NET Core and C#
- Experience building RESTful APIs
- Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)
- NoSQL experience is an advantage
Cloud Experience
- Experience deploying applications in cloud environments
- Familiar with AWS services (compute, storage, security, databases)
- AWS experience strongly preferred
Qualifications
- Computer Science degree or equivalent (NQF Level 7 – SAQA accredited)
- Cloud certification (e.g. AWS Cloud Practitioner) is an advantage
- Experience working in Agile environments
